Mark and Colin are making progress on the Tulip Windvane but have lots of annealing, sinking, shaping and raising to manipulate each copper petal to the correct shape. And they all have to be the same! A wooden former has been made to get the correct lip at the top of each petal. Colin is creating a replica Roman dagger to be displayed alongside the original, which is thought to have been a ceremonial weapon, from what is thought to be the late 2nd early 3rd century. Commissioned by the National Museum of Scotland for a forthcoming exhibition - Roman Scotland: Life on the Edge of Empire at the Museum of Scotland in November. Vicky is texturing the sun ray element for the shield for a new high school in Rosyth - Caladonia High School, due to be opened in August. The shield was designed by students from Inverkeithing High School who will transfer to the new school once it is open.
