Lots of big chunky forging this week! Team work with Mark driving the hammer and Craig forging the bar. To forge the tapering legs for the trim trail signs we started with a profile 100 square tapering to 100 x 40 over 1280. Craig and Mark are forged this from 100 square to 40 x 50 over 1600 long. Penicuik Trim Trail Signs. Penicuik Trim Trail Signs. We have had the sign plates and the lettering laser cut to keep everything crisp. By working smart we have reduced the letter setting out time by incorporating the riviting holes into the laser cutting processand as etching the letters onto the plates for correct positioning. Vicky is steadily working through the plates clearing the holes to the correct size and riviting the letters in place. #rathobyresforge #penicuik #trimtrail #signage #artistblacksmith

A central feature of a village green area in the Briary Meadow development in Haddington.
The design is based on the Briar Rose which can be found growing locally in the hedgerows.

Throw Back Friday! The South Porch Gates, St Michael's Church, Linlithgow. Created in 2009. The design, which consists of intertwining tendrils, leaves & hanging grapes, is representative of the true vine. Due to Grade A listed building status, permission had to be obtained for the addition of a gate to the building. The gate design was approved but no fixings were allowed into the fabric of the building to hang the gate. The overthrow is ingeniously clamped around the curved pillars, holding it firmly in place.
